Contributing Content to The Realm

Interested in contributing things to The Realm?  Want to write something for us that'll help thousands of other people?  Well, you're in luck.  Contributing articles to The Realm has just gotten a whole lot easier!  Here at The Realm we have one basic rule for all of our articles, reviews, and other writing content that has seemed to work far better than any of our previous rules and regulations.  And what is that rule?

Whatever you write about must be either about, or somehow connected with Linux, and/or Open Source Software.

Yep, that's it.  It's that simple.  Just connect it with Linux and/or Open Source somehow and you're golden.  Some things that qualify in these two areas are items such as hardware, software, and distro reviews, software licensing, interviews, mobile devices, editorials, and many other items.  Like I said, if you can somehow connect it to either Linux or Open Source Software, or both, then it's allowable.

Now whenever you're ready to send in an article, just send it to admin@raiden.net.  Articles should be submitted in either MSword, Open Document Format (ODT), HTML or text.  Any included images must be in either jpg, png, or gif formats.  Also, if you quote someone, please be sure to either link to the source of the quote, or use standard attribution methods.  Intentional plagiarism is not allowed and will get your article rejected if it's discovered.  Accidental plagiarism is forgivable, but you will be asked to correct the error if it's found before the article can be posted.

Also, pursuant with our previous guidelines, articles submitted to The Realm need to be A) original articles by you, and B) not previously posted somewhere else.  If you want to post it somewhere else, you may, but only after it's been posted here first.  This isn't a knock against anyone who wants to contribute to The Realm, but is instead there to stop "name droppers" who are trying to use this site to spam their blog and draw attention to themselves with no ultimate intent to do anything more than benefit themselves, and not The Realm.

Well, that's it.  Now that wasn't so bad, was it?    Yes, there are a couple of *required* things we ask of you, but that's just to make it as easy as possible on everyone involved.  So what'cha waiting for?  Send us your articles, tutorials, or whatever you want to share with us!  We'd love to post your stuff!

Also, when submitting an article at any time, you may want to consider also including any of the following tidbits about yourself for your writer's profile:

  • Your Internet Nickname
  • Birthday
  • Occupation (IE, what you do for a living)
  • Any Languages You Speak (above and beyond English)
  • Hobbies
  • Current Goals
  • Future Goals
  • Any Items of Interest to You
  • Your Tech Skills
  • And a little blurb about yourself.

We look forward to hearing from you!  If we publish your article, full credit will be given to you for everything you've contributed.   If you have further questions, please feel free to email us and ask. We're always willing to help answer any of your questions.
