And thus, our true colours reveal. Since Obama was the young newcomer, technically savvy, many of us were hoping that he might support patent and/or copyright reform. In case our story earlier on this subject didn't already tip you off, this certainly will: Obama has sided squarely with the RIAA/MPAA lobby, and backs ACTA. No copyright and/or patent reform for you, American citizens!

Big distributions, little RAM

I have noticed that this particular distribution tends to be on the heavy side of memory usage. This got me thinking. If OpenSUSE uses this much memory on my machine, how could it possibly run on a machine with 512MB of RAM (the lowest recommended amount)? If Ubuntu is the most popular distribution, but it is also, what I would call, a fully-fledged desktop distribution, then how does it manage given tighter memory constraints? And so the mini-experiment begins.

Google, Extreme Arrogance and Gaming

A few days ago Google’s CEO pronounced that that the PC would be dead in 3 years.

As an Ex-CTO for a large multi-national hardware company that stet strategy based on his predictions, you’d likely give his comments a lot of credit. Given it was Sun that he worked for, maybe not so much.

Epic brings 3D Vision to Unreal Engine 3

Epic has confirmed that its Unreal Engine 3 will now offer support for Nvidia’s 3D Vision technology.

“Today’s announcement means that licensees of the world’s most successful game engine will be able to take full advantage of integrated 3D Vision technology support and offer an unprecedented level of immersion in their upcoming games,” said Nvidia spokesperson Tony Tamasi.

Gaming used to be about playing not work, but with the advent of virtual currency to enhance game options, more and more gamers say they are willing to earn cyber cash by pimping themselves out to marketeers as survey monkeys, ad video guinea pigs and subscription sign up sasquatches.
